After a successful release of Steamworld Dig on both the Nintendo 3DS eShop and Steam, developer Image & Form believes the Wii U would be a great fit for the game. According to Brjann Sigurgeirsson, the team is looking at the possibility of bringing the title to Wii U.

“The Wii U would work very well for the SteamWorld series, so it’s definitely one of the things that we’re looking into – we’re fortunate that we left mobile at the right time and got embraced by Nintendo when it happened.”

The statement comes from a recent interview with Official Nintendo Magazine, where Sigurgeirsson admits that the App Store for iOS is now more of a lottery than it used to be and it’s no longer feasible to develop mobile games. Of course, the team at Image & Form are already hard at work on a successor to Steamworld Dig, after fans begged to see more of the game on social networks like Facebook and Twitter.

If you haven’t played the game either on the Nintendo 3DS or Steam, it’s a charming puzzle platformer that has you exploring the depths of a mine to discover a dark secret. You can check out the trailer for the game below.
