First peek at SteamWorld Dig on the Wii U

One of the best Nintendo eShop titles for the Nintendo 3DS last year was SteamWorld Dig, a puzzling platformer with plenty of mining, kooky robots, and a huge pit to get to the bottom of in order to discover what happened to your uncle. The game is an amazing way to spend a few hours, so naturally I was super excited when developer Image & Form finally announced a Wii U version of the game.

Today Image & Form tweeted out a quick photo that shows the game running on the Wii U GamePad, showcasing the town above the huge mine your uncle leaves you after he’s died, as well as what your inventory looks like. The gameplay for the game is conducive to using the TouchPad, so the team will probably add a few extra features for those who want to play it on the GamePad exclusively. Either way, it’s nice to see the game coming along so well. It’ll be available later this month on August 28.
