Splatoon listing on the Nintendo eShop shows amiibo support

Remember that rumor we posted on Friday that said a South African retailer is now accepting pre-orders for Splatoon amiibos? It looks like that little leak was more legitimate than we originally thought, as the Nintendo eShop page for Splatoon has been updated to show amiibo support for the game. While we’re not entirely sure if the characters from Splatoon will be getting their own amiibo, it’s nice to see Nintendo adding support for amiibo to every game they’ve released so far.

Amiibo support means any of the current amiibo you have will work with whatever functionality Nintendo decides to put in the game, either through character costumes of the particular amiibo you have, or other power ups. While details are still sketchy, here’s to hoping the characters do get their own amiibo. They’re pretty funky and different from any of Nintendo’s other character designs.

What do you think? Would you buy a Splatoon amiibo set if it were made available?
