Nintendo has revealed that if you want to download Splatoon, you’ll need just 1,812 MB of free disk space on your Wii U — which pales in comparison to some digital downloads on other platforms. For example, the new Batman Arkham Knight game will take up almost 50 GB on the PS4.
Splatoon is now available for pre-order on the official Nintendo Shop, where its download size is made official. In fact, Splatoon is one of the smallest (size wise) first party Wii U games to date.
By comparison, other Nintendo titles in similar size range include Super Mario Bros U (1.7 GB) and Nintendo Land (2.5 GB). But it’s nothing compared to the most disk space requiring Wii U games: NBA 2K13 required 20 GB, closely followed by Batman Arkham City at 19 GB.
Splatoon will launch on May 28 in Japan, and a day later, May 29 in the US and Europe. Check out the recent tech analysis of Splatoon, which confirms the game runs at a steady 60 frames per second.
