Heads up, Nintendo Switch owners! If you haven’t already you need to head to the Nintendo eShop to download the Splatoon 2 Global Testfire, which is starting this weekend and will give you the first taste of Splatoon 2. There’s a handful of new weapons and arenas and if you’re not familiar with Splatoon from the Wii U, here’s a quick primer on everything you need to know.
Event Schedule
This is not a free-for-all log-in whenever you want sort of event. Nintendo is stress testing the servers to make sure they can handle a load of people playing at the same time in order to prep for launch. To be part of that, you need to be willing to play the game at specific times. Here are those times:
Friday, March 24
- Noon to 12:59 pm PST
- 8 to 8:59 pm PST
Saturday, March 25
- 4 to 4:59 am PST
- Noon to 12:59 pm PST
- 8 to 8:59 pm PST
Sunday, March 26
- 4 to 4:59 am PST
Controls & Weapons
There will be four weapon types available during this round of testing, including the new Splat Dualies that are new to Splatoon 2. Even veteran Splatoon players will have plenty to explore because each of the familiar weapons now has a new effect that changes the way it plays.
