Sony: we wish Nintendo well with the Wii U

Sony wishes Nintendo well with the Wii UDespite being avid competitors, Sony has issued a statement wishing Nintendo good luck with the Wii U console. Sony Computer Entertainment president Jack Tretton said that “Nintendo has a great heritage in the business, they certainly surprised a lot of people with the success of the Wii”, saying that a “rising tide lifts all boats”, and that he wished Nintendo a lot of success with the Wii U.

Sony has been rather critical of the Wii U in the past though, saying that its PlayStation 3 and PS Vita are better than the Wii U, which sounds crazy no matter how you cut it. But as Sony says, a rising tide lifts all boats, and hopefully the Wii U can lift the gaming industry out of the current slump it’s in. Sony is rumored to release their next generation console next year.

The Wii U officially launches today, and has been available in stores since midnight last night. We got our Wii U and a bundle of games, and we’ll start reviewing it very soon.
