A quick glance at Dr. Eggman in Sonic Boom

Over the weekend a fan site got hold of some concept art for Sonic Boom and posted it online. The first piece released is the new character design for Dr. Eggman, which you can see above. Eggman now sports a slimmer body with a very military-looking uniform. Of course the crazy mustache and goggles remain and Eggman now has some sort of PipBoy looking device on his arm.

As much as I wasn’t a fan of the designs revealed for the main characters, this new Dr. Eggman design is actually appealing. In previous games Eggman was little more than a bumbling, round mad scientist. It looks like Sonic Boom will finally put some characterization to Sonic’s nemesis. This new character design screams Dr. Robotnik more than Eggman any day, though.
