Today’s Super Smash Bros. development screenshot is interesting and while it doesn’t reveal a new fighter, it’s still just as earth-shattering. Skull Kid isn’t being added as a playable character, but he will be available as an assist trophy, wearing Majora’s Mask. Here’s the message developer Masahiro Sakurai posted on Miiverse with the above picture:

Pic of the day. Here’s a new Assist Trophy–the Skull Kid! I repeat, it’s an Assist Trophy, not a new fighter. The characters announced on the website are the fighters!

This is the icing on the cake for people who are behind Operation Moonfall, which is a campaign to get Majora’s Mask remade for Wii U or 3DS. We’ve seen plenty of hints in the 3DS release of A Link Between Worlds and now this reveal means Nintendo certainly has Majora’s Mask on the brain.
