In the current dry season of games until Nintendo releases some of the more anticipated titles, independent developers have kept the Wii U eShop going strong with new releases. Zen Pinball 2 and Toki Tori 2 are just two of the titles that will be available to gamers soon and if Yacht Club Games’ Kickstarter is successful, it’s likely we could see Shovel Knight available in the eShop, too.
Shovel Knight is a throwback to 8-bit and 16-bit gaming, where side-scrolling platformers with bosses at the end of the levels, such as Sonic and Mega Men reigned supreme. The game features all new original characters and bosses, superb artwork, and a chiptune soundtrack that’s pretty great, too. The Kickstarter is currently on path for success, sitting at $26k of $75k needed with only 26 days to go.
If you’re interested in seeing the game released on Nintendo’s platforms, consider pledging to help them out. The Kickstarter is doing regular updates to reveal the bosses that will be in the game once it’s released, so there’s plenty to keep track of if you’re interested.
