Rocket League on Switch runs at 576p most of the time

Rocket League just launched on the Switch, and the developer just confirmed that the game actually runs at 576p in portable mode, the way most gamers will play it.

That’s about 80% of the resolution of 720p, the good news is that the game runs at 60 fps — the developer put a priority on smooth gameplay over resolution.

When docked, the resolution is bumped up to 720p. While it’s not ideal that a game in 2017 (almost 2018) runs at just 576p, the developer is promising to continue working on optimizing the game.

“Generally speaking it hovers around 1024ร—576. Post launch we plan to continue working on optimizing the game”, Rocket League developer Psyonix said during a Reddit Q&A.

They also made sure to point out that the resolution is dynamic depending on the arena.

By comparison, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe runs at 720p when portable and full 1080p when docked, all at 60 frames per second.
