Wii U getting Road Redemption from Dark Sea Games

Developer Dark Sea Games recently took to Kickstarter to seek funding for their new project called Road Redemption, which is a spiritual successor to the Road Rash series of games released in the 90s. Right now the Kickstarter sits at just under $60k funding with 18 days to go for total of $160k sought. You can find the trailer above.

When asked about the Wii U version specifically, the developers address why they think the Wii U is a good fit for the game.

We believe that the Wii U is a great fit for Road Redemption.

The tablet-style gamepad has great potential for local multiplayer gaming without the need for a splitscreen, and we hope to see more developers taking advantage of this potential.

Nintendo has reached out to independent game developers by wholeheartedly embracing the Unity 4 gaming engine for Wii U development. Thankfully, the Wii U’s strong technical specs, specifically the 2GB of ram, will allow us to bring the full Road Redemption experience to this console.

The game will feature an RPG-like progression system, where players will earn cash according to how well they do in the races. This cash can be spent in the bike shop on better bikes, or customizations for your current bike. Improvements to your own character are also available to be purchased. If you’re interested in seeing the game on the Wii U, you can support the Kickstarter to help the game reach its current funding goal.
