Pinball Arcade dev bashes Wii U, then apologizes for his misinformation

Yesterday there was a bit of flurry on Facebook between the Pinball Arcade developer and Wii U fans. The developer went on record saying that despite the Wii U’s status as a new console, the PS3 stomps it.

No, it’s not as powerful as the PS3 for visuals, it has more physical memory, but it every other measurable way, the PS3 stomps it.

Of course, fans of the Wii U were quick to point out just how wrong the developer is and later on, he issued an apology for his inaccurate statements.

“Those comments were made based on a conversation I had with the developer who’s been working on the WII-U version, he was unable to get the console to perform anywhere near what the xbox one and ps4 were capable of,” the developer said. “I was misinformed in that I said the ps3 was far more powerful… after speaking to him again, I was told that while the system still does not compare to XB1 or PS4, I was incorrect in regards to the ps3 comparison, and for that I apologize.”

This sort of bashing is exactly the way many consumers perceive the Wii U and now a developer has made the same mistake without doing his own research. While it’s true the Wii U doesn’t have the same capabilities as the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, in every comparison done between games released on both last-gen systems and the Wii U, the Wii U version typically looks better. Assassins’ Creed IV Black Flag is a great example of this, as the Wii U version had great weather effects while on the high seas while the PlayStation 3 version didn’t.
