Today the team at Just Add Water announced that due to the success of the remake of Abe’s Oddysee under the new name, New n’ Tasty, a remake of the second game in the series, Abe’s Exxodus would be possible. But wait, you’re thinking. That game hasn’t released yet on Wii U! You’d be right. Along with the announcement came news about the Wii U and the PS Vita versions of the game, both of which have not been released despite this success.
Those versions of the game are still planned for release later this year, which means New n’ Tasty was so successful on PlayStation, Xbox, and the PC platforms that the sequel will be made regardless of how it sells on the Wii U. The real question is whether that sequel will see release on Wii U as well.
The official dev post is available here if you want to read the announcement about Abe’s Exxodus being possible. The relevant bit from the post says:
Rest assured that the Wii U and PlayStation Vita versions of Oddworld: New ānā Tasty are still in development and are planned for release later this year.
Hopefully we’ll get a release date by E3.
