Nintendo has confirmed that it won’t be showing off the Wii U or any other system or games at the upcoming Gamescom event in Germany. Gamescom is the largest gaming event in the world, and is held each year in Cologne. Instead, Nintendo says that they’ll “broaden our post-E3 activities to the Wii U”. Nintendo is expected to reveal the final details about the Wii U at E3 2012, including Wii U games lineup and a launch price.

Gamescom takes place in August, which is a few months after the E3 event. Therefore, it’s not surprising since Nintendo will be doing all the unveiling of the Wii U at E3 2012 in June. European Wii U fans might be disappointed though, as they won’t get a chance to check out the new console. Gamescom usually draws a huge crowd: last year over 275,000 people made it to the event. This makes Gamescom the biggest public gaming convention in the world.
