One of the biggest criticisms levied at Nintendo as of late is that it doesn’t do enough advertising and marketing for the games that are available on the Wii U. Nintendo UK is looking to change that, as the firm has announced that its marketing efforts for Mario Kart 8 will extend all the way to the end of this year.

Social media programs for interacting with fans are already underway, but after the launch campaign that includes TV commercials, campaigns for awareness of the game will continue until the end of the year. According to Nintendo UK’s Mario brand manager Roger Langford, the firm will be doing everything it can to make sure fans are aware that the new Mario Kart 8 is like nothing we’ve seen before.

To herald the launch of the most hotly anticipated Wii U title to date we will have marketing activity pre-launch as well as post-launch moving through the summer and into peak season.

Of course, this campaign is only for those in the United Kingdom, where the Wii U and the Nintendo 3DS continue to struggle against its competitors. Will we see something like this in the United States and the rest of Europe? We hope so.
