Nintendo will reveal their first mobile game tomorrow

Early in March when former president Satoru Iwata announced that Nintendo would embrace mobile gaming, gamer’s imaginations went wild with what sort of game to expect from the home console giant. Now the company is set to unveil their first smartphone game tomorrow, October 29. It only took Nintendo seven months to get things in order, but their partnership with DeNA is about to be revealed to the public.

When Nintendo made the initial announcement back in March, the company promised that its mobile efforts would be entirely new concepts that aren’t just ports of existing games and won’t feature apps with unreasonable in-app purchases. We’ve already seen some of the efforts from this initiative in the form of Pokemon Shuffle, an iOS and Android game that was ported from the Nintendo 3DS.

With Nintendo reporting an operating profit for the first half of this year for the first time in five years, there’s a lot riding on this announcement. Nintendo has dominated the toys-to-life category with its home consoles by selling over 21 million amiibo, but it remains to be seen if the company will gain traction among the notoriously cut-throat world of mobile gaming.
