Nintendo will ramp up Switch production for the holidays

The Switch has been in great shortage ever since it launched back in March, almost six months ago (has it been that long?!). And while Nintendo increased production shortly after launch, even that didn’t provide enough units to meet demand.

With the busy holiday shopping season arriving fast, things could get a lot worse for those who hope to get a Switch console.

But Nintendo is now promising that they will increase production for the holiday season, the company said in a statement.

“We’re doing everything we can to make sure everyone who wants to buy a Nintendo Switch system can do so. We will ramp up production for the holiday period, which has been factored into our forecast.” the company told the Wall Street Journal (sub required).

The Switch has officially sold 4.7 million units as of last month. That number is definitely topped 5 million by now, and will most likely hit 10 million by the end of the year if Nintendo can meet demand.

With Super Mario Odyssey coming out, and games like Zelda and Mario Kart already out, there is going to be an insane demand for the Switch this holiday season.
