Nintendo wants the Switch to last beyond 5-6 years

Nintendo console usually have a lifespan of 5 to 6 years, but that might not be the case with the Switch.

According to Nintendo president Tatsumi Kimishima, the company wants to keep selling and supporting the Switch for more than 5-6 years.

He told Nikkei that he sees the Switch lasting longer than its previous consoles, which usually last 5-6 years.

For reference, here are the lifespans of some of the previous Nintendo consoles:

GameCube: 5 years
Wii: 6 years
Wii U: 5 years
N64: 6 years
SNES: 6 years
