While I personally haven’t encountered any dead pixels with my Nintendo Switch or any of those I’ve seen in the few days since release, it’s interesting to note that Nintendo doesn’t consider dead pixels a defect for the Switch.
The Troubleshooting manual for the Nintendo Switch online has a section devoted to this issue labeled under the phrase:
There are black or bright dots on the Nintendo Switch screen that do not go away, or there are dark or light patches on the screen.
This situation of course describes the dead pixels that we’ve no doubt seen in devices over the years. Nintendo’s suggestion isn’t to return the console, but instead that they consider these small spots on the screen “a characteristic of LCD displays.” That’s unfortunate for anyone that got a Switch this weekend with a dead pixel out of the box.
