Nintendo has responded to the numerous attempts to hack its Switch system — many of which have been successful — by banning players with hacked consoles from going online.
Users who run custom software or modded consoles now get the “2124-4007” error code with the message: “The use of online services on this console is currently restricted by Nintendo”.
Banner users cannot access the Switch eShop or online multiplayer, however, it is still possible to update apps on the console and check the news feed.
However, it seems that there is some collateral damage: some users are reporting that they are seeing this message despite not having a hacked system.
