Nintendo rumored to work on Wii Mini

Wii MiniThe Wii U has launched and is selling out quickly across North America, but Nintendo isn’t abandoning the original Wii just yet. It recently received a new price ($130), and according to rumors from a retailer, Nintendo will release a new “Wii Mini” console next month.

According to the rumor, the Wii Mini will be smaller, come with a sensor bar, and a Wii Remote Plus and Nun-chuck controller. Nintendo has actually done something like this in the past, releasing the SNES 101 (or SNES Mini as most called it), after the release of the revolutionary Nintendo 64.

So we wouldn’t be surprised if Nintendo released a $99 Wii Mini console. The Wii received a redesign last year, which saw the console lose the GameCube ports and shrink in size. According to the rumor, the Wii Mini console is scheduled for launch on December 7.

The Wii Mini would likely be suited for emerging markets like South America, and those who can’t afford the new Wii U. The Wii U can play all older Wii games, and supports all of the accessories.
