EarthBound was released on the Wii U Virtual Console last week and is quite possibly the most anticipated game for the service. Many were excited to see it now available, but several also balked at its $9.99 price tag. Typically most SNES virtual console titles are available in the eShop for $7.99 so the two dollar premium price didn’t go unnoticed. Nintendo released this statement addressing it:
“As for EarthBound, Nintendo sets prices in the Nintendo eShop and Virtual Console on a game-by-game basis. Different games will be offered at different prices.”
Nintendo obviously knew the game would sell well, so the pricing is deliberate. An online strategy guide is included with the purchase so that could be part of the increase. What do you think, is EarthBound worth the extra dough?
