A new report from Eurogamer suggests that multiple sources have confirmed that the Nintendo NX is based around Nvidia’s mobile-oriented Tegra processor. According to these sources, the development kits for the console currently use the Tegra X1 chip that is utilized by Nvidia’s Shield Android TV console.

This news comes as a surprise to many, who expected AMD to provide the technology that will go into Nintendo’s new machine. Obviously, this revelation means Nintendo isn’t trying to directly compete with the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, but rather they’re taking their next-gen console in an entirely new direction.
