With 2016 only a handful of days away, the focus on Nintendo’s next console is becoming more and more at the forefront of what the company does. Despite being announced by former president Satoru Iwata, Nintendo has released virtually no information about the next console and they refuse to talk about it. However, a private showing at CES 2016 could change all that.

According to a rumor, the Nintendo NX will have a private showing behind closed doors at CES 2016 in Las Vegas. According to the source, third-party companies have been invited to see the showcase of the system, which will show what it’s capable of doing. This wouldn’t be the first time Nintendo has done something similar, as CES 2012 featured a private showing of the Wii U hardware.

While nothing can be confirmed at this time, the source of the rumor mentioned that in terms of raw power, the Nintendo NX is said to be similar to the Xbox One. No mention was made of the hybrid system that everyone has been talking about, however.

What do you think? Michael Pachter doesn’t think the Nintendo NX will launch this year, but if they’re showing it off privately at CES that seems to indicate imminent release.
