Nintendo: next Zelda should “create a unique experience that is beyond expectations”

Wii U Zelda

Nintendo is hard at work on a brand new Zelda game for the Wii U. And while Wind Waker is great and will keep us busy until then, everyone is excited to see what Nintendo has in store for us.

According to Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma, Nintendo aims not just to satisfy fans with the new Zelda, but to create a something unique that goes beyond what people expect.

As part of the new Prima Guides Zelda box set, Aonuma signed a certificate of authenticity with these words to fans:

“It has been 25 years since The Legend of Zelda was introduced to the world, and it is still going strong. This was made possible by the fans who love the series. In the next installment, it is my desire to create a unique experience that is beyond your expectations. We are privileged to have your unwavering support.”

We haven’t heard much about the new Zelda game for the Wii U, only that it’s in development. According to various reports, we won’t be seeing it until 2015. Until then, Nintendo has a strong lineup of first party Wii U games for 2014, including Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, and Super Smash Bros U, which is rumored for release in April 2014.
