Last week we reported that a Nintendo of Europe customer service representative confirmed amiibo restock in Europe for this summer. This has led many North American amiibo fans to wonder when we’ll be getting the same treatment, especially since amiibo have been significantly more popular in this market than in Europe. Nintendo of America finally took to their Facebook page to address some of the growing concerns for the lack of news about the amiibo restock to let customers know that yes, there will be an amiibo restock in America.
We’re trying to meet the demands of our fans and consumers by increasing the amount of amiibo we manufacture and ship to retail. We may continue to see consumer demand outpace supply levels for certain characters at times, but we will do our best to prevent that from happening.”
“As our library of amiibo continues to grow, some figures will be easier to find than others. We are constantly looking for the opportunity to reissue amiibo and are already making plans to bring back some currently out-of-stock amiibo figures. Stay tuned for details.”
One of the other contentious points that was being brought up on the Facebook page is when the amiibo cards we saw in the last Nintendo Direct would be available for consumers to purchase. This would alleviate the issue for those who don’t necessarily want the amiibo statue, but still want to collect all the goodies that the amiibo have to offer for Nintendo’s various games.
Nintendo plans to make it easier for consumers to know when new amiibo are on the way, through Nintendo press announcements, timely updates on our social media channels and working closely with retailers.”
“We remain committed to keeping amiibo affordable and easy to access as a platform to enhance game-play experiences. These plans include Animal Crossing amiibo cards that will become available by the end of 2015, and a free-to-download app for Wii U called amiibo tap: Nintendo’s Greatest Bits that launched on April 30, 2015, that lets consumers enjoy playable scenes from certain NES and Super NES games with amiibo.”
So of course Nintendo of America support are re-iterating what we already know, that cards are coming sometime by the end of 2015 and all of the current and future amiibo will work with the new amiibo tap app that just released last month. The fact that there are still no estimates on time tables for any of these is highly frustrating, but remember the time of year that Nintendo typically details its end of the year plans is only a month away.
