Nintendo has no plans to sell dock-less Switch in the US

Last week Nintendo surprised many by offering a discounted Switch console in Japan without the dock or charging adapter.

The company has now confirmed that it has no plans of offering this in the US — if you want a second Switch, you’ll have to pay the full price and get the dock too.

The dock-less Switch on Japan retails for about $50 less — $250 instead of $300. However, that console is meant as a secondary console for those who already have one Switch. It doesn’t come with a dock nor a charging adapter.

It will be interesting to see if Nintendo at some point offers a mobile-only Switch console, with no dock and perhaps not even detachable Joy-Cons, for a lower price.
