With the release of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. during the 2014 fiscal year, many Nintendo fans are curious to know how the Wii U performed this year over the last 2013 year that it was available on the market. Nintendo has announced that it will hold a meeting to discuss the 2014 fiscal year on May 7th. Investors will have a meeting the following day, so expect another Q&A session similar to what we got in February, when Iwata was fielding questions for that quarter’s report.

The most relevant information to come from this report will be an update on both Wii U and Nintendo 3DS lifetime hardware sales. This is particularly curious for both products, as the Wii U had a bevy of quality titles compared to the relative early drought of 2013. The Nintendo 3DS line just launched a mid-cycle hardware refresh as well, with the New Nintendo 3DS XL finally launching in North America and Europe this year.

Anyone want to take a shot at predicting lifetime sales of the Wii U before we get them? We’ll see how close you were on May 7.
