First Nintendo DS game released on Wii U virtual console in Japan

One of the bigger reveals of the last general Nintendo Direct is that Nintendo DS games will eventually make their way to the Wii U virtual console. While it wasn’t the GameCube announcement that everyone was hoping for, it’s a step in the right direction of getting more recent consoles featured on the service. The first game for the Nintendo DS is now live on the Wii U virtual console.

Brain Age was released in 2006 in Japan and offers quick mental activities that can be done every day to help players improve their focus and mental activity. The game was released for free on the service. There are no details when Nintendo will release these games outside of Japan, or when more will come to the service, but it makes sense to start with Brain Age as it is one of the games that originally kicked off the Nintendo DS here in the United States.
