Nintendo Direct goes behind the scenes with Bayonetta 2 for Wii U

In this past Nintendo Direct, Sotoru Iwata took viewers on a behind the scene look at the development process of Bayonetta 2, with a 90-second video that involved the team at Platinum Games  discussing the process of making the next entry in the Bayonetta series. The video showcased several of the new design elements that will be featured in the game, while the team discussed what players can expect when the finally get their hands on it.

“The scale of the game is completely different this time, so it feels like you are fighting the last boss from the very beginning,” one of the developers said. “I think people are going to have lots of fun with it.”

Check out the video below to see Bayonetta 2’s development team in action.

Personally, some of the new enemy designs shown off at the beginning of the video, as well as the combat animations that the developers seemed to be working on have gotten me even more hyped for this game.  That comment about it feeling like you’re fighting the last boss from the beginning of the game, makes me think that the enemies are going to be even more epic than in the original.

Also, while Bayonetta was one of my favorite new IP’s of this generation, I feel like the game could have used some more diversity in level design. Now, after seeing the work that is going into the new environments for Bayonetta 2, I believe one of the only issues I had with the first game will be solved in the sequel.

This was only one of several Wii U announcements made during this presentation yesterday. Are you guys getting more excited for Bayonetta 2? Which of the other announcements are you thrilled about?  How do you feel about the Nintendo’s position going into E3 this year?
