The Nintendo Switch has been in short supply ever since it launched. And while the company says they are doing everything they can to meet demand, consoles are still selling out all the time. Nintendo has even apologized for the shortages.
And just to make it clear, the company recently denied reports that it was deliberately creating shortages in order to get some publicity. Nintendo senior director of corporate communications Charlie Scibetta said about the issue:
“It’s definitely not intentional in terms of shorting the market. We’re making it as fast as we can. We want to get as many units out as we can to support all the software that’s coming out right now… our job really is to get it out as quick as we can, especially for this holiday because we want to have units on shelves to support Super Mario Odyssey.”
He also said that they anticipated that the console would be in high demand, but that demand was even higher than they thought, adding: “It’s a good problem to have, but we’re working very hard to try and meet demand.”

The Switch sold 2.7 million units during its first month, and has been selling like hot cakes ever since. However, due to the shortages, it dropped to second place in the US last month.
