Yesterday we reported that several retailers in Scandinavia were told by their distributor that Nintendo has ended production of the NES Mini and that they should only expect a couple of more shipments.
Nintendo released a statement today saying that NES mini production will continue. A Nintendo UK rep said “Production for the Nintendo Classic Mini: NES continues, and NOE [Nintendo of Europe] will continue to ship units to retail on a regular basis.”
However, we’re taking Nintendo’s statement with a grain of salt because last year, we reported that Wii U production was ending. Nintendo denied the claim, only to confirm a week later that in fact Wii U production has ended.
Like all Nintendo fans, we hope the company keeps making the NES mini, because there is massive demand out there. However, we’re not holding our breaths on this one.
