Over the holiday break, rumor surfaced that Minecraft was in active development for the Wii U. It turns out this is not the case, as Minecraft creator Notch–Markus-Persson–has taken to Twitter to squash the rumor. He says that while Minecraft for Wii U makes sense, it’s not in development because the team at Mojang simply has too much on their plate right now.
I agree a Wii U version would make sense, btw. The only reason for no current plans is we've got too much work already. I <3 Nintendo.

That’s a bummer, but perhaps we’ll see Minecraft on Wii U in the future once the team at Mojang expands, or perhaps Nintendo can persuade the team that Minecraft on Wii U is worth seeing.
