Last year Mega Man creator Kenji Inafune began a Kickstarter campaign for Mighty No. 9; a 2D side-scrolling action-platformer in the vein of the old Mega Man games. It proved to be one of the most popular video game Kickstarters ever and quickly met the Wii U stretch goal.

We’ve seen video of the game engine at work before and there’s been some controversy over a community manager appointment. But aside from that there hasn’t been much news about the game since it’s Kickstarter ended.

Until now at least. Several Alpha build screenshots have been released today on the game’s official website. They’re a little rough visually, but they show off several aspects of the game, such as some UI elements, particle effects and enemies along with main character Beck ledge-grabbing and dashing. It was also said in the post that Inafune “loved” the Alpha build.

Mighty No 9. is still early in development, and so doesn’t have a release date yet. But we do know that it will be released on PC (Windows, Mac, Linux), PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS Vita and 3DS.

What do you guys think of these screenshots? Do they look interesting to you? Let us know in the comments!
