Microsoft and Nintendo surprised many by bringing Minecraft to the Wii U (Microsoft owns Minecraft), and demand for a Minecraft Amiibo is pretty high, says Microsoft.

That’s according to Microsoft community manager Helen Zbihlyj, who said that a lot of fans have asked for a Minecraft Amiibo, but added that it’s Nintendo’s decision whether they want to make Minecraft Amiibos or not.

“We do know that there’s a lot of demand for a Minecraft Amiibo — no idea if we’ll get one,” said Zbihlyj.

Asked if Minecraft’s Alex and Steve would make appearances in other Nintendo games, she had this to say:

“As for Alex and Steve making an appearance in other games, the studios that develop those games would need to reach out to us directly about it.”

Minecraft for the Wii U will be released on December 17th on the eShop, and will include a bunch of texture packs and other goodies. The game will retail for $30.
