Angry fans start petition to cancel new 3DS Metroid Prime game

One of Nintendo’s big announcements at E3 this year is a return to the Metroid Prime franchise, though not in the way fans were expecting. Most expected Nintendo to announce that Retro Studios is working on a new console version of Metroid Prime, but instead we got Metroid Prime: Federation Force, a new Nintendo 3DS title that doesn’t resemble past Metroid games in the slightest. It has a focus on 3v3 and the inclusion of Blast Ball, a mini-game that failed to impress.

In fact, fans are so angry that they’ve started a new petition on Change.org to get Nintendo to stop working on Metroid Prime: Federation Force entirely. As of the time of writing, the petition has more than 9,000 signatures and it’s rapidly growing as fans around the internet express their displeasure.

Will you be signing the petition? Do you think Nintendo should stop their efforts with the game now, based on user feedback? Let us know in the comments!
