Metroid Prime 4 is not developed by Retro Studios

Everyone was relieved to finally get the confirmation that Metroid Prime 4 is in development and will be coming to the Switch next year (or whenever it’s released).

However, Nintendo has now confirmed that the game is not developed by longtime Metroid developers at Retro Studios. Metroid Prime 4 is developed by a new team that has yet to be revealed.

The good news is that longtime Metroid Prime producer Kensuke Tanabe is still running the show for the new game.

Metroid Prime 4 was revealed earlier today with a teaser trailer that only showed the title of the game — no gameplay or any other visual clues were given.

You can check out the teaser trailer below. There’s no firm release date for the game, not even a year, it’s only listed as “in development”. Hopefully 2018 isn’t too unrealistic for the game.
