Nintendo gave us a brief look at Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars last year at E3, but during today’s Nintendo Direct, Bill Trinen gave more information about the game. The game allows players to create their own levels, but a unique aspect of the game is that you the player can reward the creator for creating a fun and interesting level. Upon level completion, you’ll be able to tip the creator one to three stars. From there, the creator can use the stars to buy new items in a shop so they can continue to design new levels with new items, traps, and hazards.

While the gameplay is pretty unique and interesting in that regard, the most interesting thing is that it will be available as a cross-buy title for both the Nintendo 3DS and the Wii U. That means once you buy it on either machine, you’ll have it on both. This is something Sony has long experimented with on the PS Vita and it’s served them well. It’s nice to see Nintendo adopting this as well.

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars will be available on March 5. Will you be picking it up?
