Super Mario Odyssey has sold 1.1 million copies in North America in just five days, making it the fastest selling Mario game ever.
It surpassed New Super Mario Bros. for the Wii, and also became the fastest selling Switch game, topping Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
And it’s not just North America: it’s also the fastest selling Mario game ever in Europe and Japan — it’s so popular in Japan that Switch sales increased 4X when it launched.
In just three days after launching, the game had sold over 2 million copies worldwide.
It’s also one of the best reviewed games of all time, with a Metacritic score of 97, making it the best reviewed game this year, alongside Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
