As we barrel closer to the release date of Mario Kart 8 on May 30, we’re taking a look at everything that makes Mario Kart one of the best racing series available. We already explored the characters of the series, looking at which drivers players like to choose and who suits players the best. The overwhelming majority of you chose Yoshi in the last poll, who managed to claim 13.3% of the vote. Of course, other characters may not have been as popular as Yoshi, but with the new koopalings in Mario Kart 8, you may just find you have a new favorite.
With characters out of the way, this week we’re going to explore favorite items and weapons to be used in Mario Kart. Some are certainly offensive items, like the homing red shell, while others like the red mushroom give you a quick boost to get across the finish line before your best friend. There’s quite a few items that can be used strategically and with the addition of new items like the boomerang flower and the super horn in Mario Kart 8, we’re excited to see what players end up using most.
