Mario Kart like you’ve never seen it

Mario Kart Wii U retro
It’s very likely that Nintendo will reveal a Mario Kart Wii U game at E3 next week. There are many directions in which they can take the Mario Kart franchise on the Wii U, but they certainly won’t go in the direction that artist Jose Emorca Flores took Mario Kart in.

Emorca took the fun and cartoony Mario kart series and turned into a sort of Tim Burton-esque 1930s-style grand prix. Bowser and Toad look downright scary, and Mario looks more bad-ass than we’ve ever seen him.

Called “The Kingdom of Krash”, his take on Mario Kart will be available on display at the iam8bit gallery in Los Angeles.

We would love to play this sort of “adult” Mario Kart — if only Nintendo had the guts to try something really radical with the series.

Check out Emorca’s artworks below. You can also purchase them as prints here.
