Mario Kart 8 slips out of top ten games for August

NPD-Group

NPD Group is the organization responsible for calculating sales of games and hardware in the United States. Unlike the weekly Media Create reports we get for Japan, NPD Group keeps the numbers to themselves and anyone who pays to access them (most manufacturers). Usually when we get specific numbers from a hardware manufacturer, it’s them bragging about how many units they’ve sold. Either way, we know the PlayStation 4 has been selling at a 1.5:1 ratio to the Xbox One, but the only info we have on Wii U is Michael Pachter’s 65k estimate from a few days ago.

The top ten games in the United States for August saw Mario Kart 8 drop off the list entirely, to be replaced with newcomers like Madden NFL 15 and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, both of which took the top two spots. Hopefully we’ll see Hyrule Warriors and Bayonetta 2 enter this chart once they’re available, though they’re releasing at the end of each of their release months.

2. Diablo III: Reaper of Souls (PS4, Xbox One, 360, PS3, PC)
