It’s award season and the BAFTA awards are right around the corner. Today, the BAFTA announced its nominations for the British Academy Games Awards, which honors excellence in games on every platform. The event will take place on March 12 and there are several high profile nominees this year, including Nintendo with Mario Kart 8.
Nintendo is being recognized in three categories thanks to Mario Kart 8, including Best Game, Audio Achievement, and Family and Multiplayer. Mario Kart 8 will face stiff competition from other publishers, as SEGA’s Alien: Isolation has a whopping six nominations, followed by Far Cry 4 with five nominations. Destiny and Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor are also nominated for several awards. It’s a disappointment to see BAFTA only found one Nintendo title worthy of nominations this year, but it’s nice to see none of the technical failures from Ubisoft and EA last year were honored at all.
