Legend of Zelda for Wii U listed as TBD now

Earlier this year in March, the producer for the Legend of Zelda series Eiji Aonuma released a statement that said Nintendo was no longer making a 2015 release a priority for its upcoming open world Zelda game. Since then, we saw no hints of the game at E3 this year and Nintendo has been extremely quiet about the game despite fans asking for more information.

So there will be no Zelda on Wii U this year, but what about next year? Nintendo’s quarterly financials were released yesterday and have been thoroughly picked over, but an interesting note is that The Legend of Zelda Wii U is currently listed as “TBD” or To Be Determined. Other titles like Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games have confirmed release dates.

If Nintendo isn’t targetting a 2016 release for Zelda Wii U, when will we see it? Will we see it at all? We’ve still yet to see how Xenoblade Chronicles X performs on the Wii U and the developers have famously stated they had to have Nintendo’s help fitting the entire content of that game on a single Wii U disc and even then, there’s a substantial download file in the eShop.

Do you think Nintendo will attempt to push this new Zelda to the NX as a launch title?

Thanks, Ducked!
