Koushik Dutta has been working restlessly with AllCast, an app that will allow you to stream your local content to a plethora of smart TV platforms. AllCast is now available for everyone on the Google Play Store, but you will have to make some sacrifices.
The app had its hiccups with Google’s Chromecast when Google closed compatibility for it. The Search Giant is not bending its arm just yet, but as soon as it’s allowed, AllCast should be able to work with the popular HDMI dongle. For now, Koush’s app will work with “Roku, Apple TV, Xbox (360 or One), Samsung Smart TVs, and other DLNA renderers.”
Another issue is that this Beta is not completely open to every Google Play Store user. You have to sign up to be a ClockworkMod Beta tester first. After that you can go to the Google Play Store and become a tester. A few steps to watch out for, but nothing out of reach.
I will be using it for now, but I am really hoping for Chromecast compatibility! Hopefully it will come before AllCast exits beta.
