There are a handful of Bluetooth controllers you can buy for Android to play games on the go that may require more precise input than your fingers can muster, but it seems like Nintendo may have just created the perfect Android controller with the Joy-Con.
We’ve already reported on the Joy-Con controller being compatible with PCs thanks to it registering as a regular Bluetooth controller, but the same can be done with an Android device. The tiny size of the Joy-Con makes it the perfect portable controller and despite my initial reservations about the smallness of the controller, now that I’ve had it in my hand I think it’s the perfect Bluetooth controller for Android.
The button setup is similar to the SNES controller, which means you’ve got a D-PAD, four face buttons and two shoulder buttons you can use for any games that work with a standard Bluetooth controller. It works well, stays connected, and with a battery life of around 20 hours before it needs to be charged you can toss one in your bag or pocket and go without worrying about it not being charged.
I’m already considering buying another set of Joy-Con controllers to use as a dedicated Bluetooth controller for my Android devices so I don’t have to desync the controllers that come with my system.
