Japanese sales: Xbox One falls flat on launch, Dragon Quest is popular

Last week marked the first week of availability of the Xbox One for Japan, a console that launched nearly a year ago in the rest of the world. It’s no surprise that Microsoft took their sweet time introducing the Xbox One to Japan, since the Xbox 360 has never gained a foothold in the region. The Xbox One is no different, though it did take the top spot in hardware sales for the week, it did so when sales of the 3DS are tepid at best.

Of the games that were released in the region for the Xbox One, only two titles managed to crack the top ten. Titanfall only hit number seven on the list and it didn’t crack over 10k sales. Other titles released in the region include Dead Rising 3 at number ten, and Forza Motorsport 5, at number 12. It’s pretty obvious home consoles are struggling in Japan, but if the Wii U and PS4 are struggling, then the Xbox One is drowning before it even begins.
