Japanese sales: Wii U moves 9k, Hyrule Warriors way down

Wii U sales
Last week saw the launch of Hyrule Warriors in Japan, which many people expected to be a huge seller in Japan. It had a very decent first week on the market, managing to move just shy of 90k units, which is respectable for a first week in Japan. However, this week the game has nearly fallen out of the top ten, moving only 15k units and taking six spot. So what pushed it out of the way?

Yokai Watch 2 hasn’t given an inch in terms of being knocked out of the top spot, but several new games for PS4 and PS3 have managed to supersede Hyrule Warriors. Both The Last of Us Remastered and Diablo III: Reaper of Souls Ultimate Evil Edition launched this week to considerable sales given the number of consoles. It’s surprising to see Western titles do so well in their first week on the Japanese market, but there’s no telling if that momentum is sustainable. Either way, PS4 didn’t see the jump you’d expect for two high profile releases.
