Japanese sales: Monster Hunter dominance continues, Wii U falls very low

Wii U sales

Last week in Japan, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate debuted and claimed the top spot on the software charts. This week, Monster Hunter continues its dominance at the top of the charts despite several new releases for PS3 and PS4. The Evil Within debuted on both PS3 and PS4 and racked up almost 60k sales to claim two of the top five spots. This is interesting because The Evil Within is a western game.

the 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. has fallen down considerably in the face of all the new releases but still managed to clock in at number seven on the charts, with Yokai Watch 2 just below it. The rest of the software chart is filled out by PlayStation releases, with Mario Kart 8 still hanging in there.

On the hardware side of things, the Wii U has continued to fall this week, dropping down to just over 4k sold. With all the new releases on PlayStation platforms and the renewed focus on 3DS games, this isn’t really surprising for the region, especially considering the New Nintendo 3DS just released and continues to sell well.
