Japanese sales: Mario Party 10 debuts at #5 in Japan

Japanese hardware and software sales for the week are finally available and despite Nintendo releasing Mario Party 10 this week on the Wii U, Yakuza 0 on the PS3 & PS4 managed to win top spot with around 236,000 sales across both platforms and claiming the top two spots on the software chart. Mario Party 10 debuted at number five on the list, selling a respectable 50k copies during its first week.

From there, PlayStation products really fill out the rest of the charts, as Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U have both dropped off the top twenty chart. Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS is still holding on near the bottom of the charts.

In terms of hardware sales this week, it’s much the same story as last week with PlayStation on top, even beating out the New Nintendo 3DS in both iterations. The Wii U is holding steady at 7k, so while Mario Party 10 wasn’t a console seller, it was never expected to be.
